For me, DeWitt Building & Construction is more than a business. It’s a promise I made to a man who trusted me with something he spent his life building.

I started working for the previous owner in 2010. He had owned and operated the company since 1969, and his name and reputation meant everything to him. Working beside him, I came to understand how much of himself he had put into this company.

Then he learned he had stage three lung cancer. The news devastated him. Everything happened so quickly that just three weeks later, we were standing at his funeral. It was hard to believe someone I had worked beside was suddenly gone.

Before he passed, I promised him I would keep the DeWitt name going. I promised I would protect the company’s reputation and carry forward the integrity he had built into it.

That promise stayed with me. When I took over the company, I knew I was taking responsibility for more than its day-to-day operations. I was becoming the caretaker of a legacy.

I want to build something strong enough to pass on to my children one day. But I also want them to understand what they would be receiving: a name that someone worked a lifetime to establish, a reputation that must be earned every day, and a promise their father intends to keep.

When people choose DeWitt Building & Construction, I want them to feel the care and pride behind that name. Every homeowner who trusts us gives us another opportunity to honor what he built.

He may no longer be here, but his life’s work continues. My responsibility is to keep it going with the same integrity—and someday, place it in my children’s hands with that promise still intact.
